Mommy, My Tummy Hurts Baby Jesus Keeps Kicking Me!

Let’s Rock and Talk, honey.  Time to rest for a while.  Time to calm down now.

Mommy, my tummy hurts.

I’m sorry honey. Let’s relax a minute instead of jumping around and see if that helps.  Jump up on the rocker with me.

Okay.

Back and forth, back and forth, back and forth.

Mommy? Why does Baby Jesus keep kicking my tummy?

Kicking your tummy, what do you mean honey?

He keeps kicking and kicking inside my heart and hurting my tummy, can you tell him to stop?

Back and forth, back and forth, back and forth.

Oh, I understand.  Baby Jesus lives in your heart.  But he doesn’t have a human body like we do anymore.  His spirit lives in your heart.  So I don’t think it is him making your tummy hurt.

Back and forth, back and forth, back and forth.

Mommy, can I touch Baby Jesus someday?

He is more like air that you can’t touch.  You just know he is always there in your heart and all around you.

But Mommy, how can Baby Jesus be in my heart and in other people’s hearts too?

Well, because he is a spirit and like the air he can be in lots of places at one time.

Back and forth, back and forth, back and forth.

But Mommy, why can’t I touch him?  How bout if I just touch him on the arm real soft like this?  See?  That would be okay, right?

Sure honey, that would be okay. That is nice and gentle.

Mommy could I sit next to Jesus someday?  I could sit here real quiet and he could sit there and I would not jump around or anything.

That would be nice, honey.

Back and forth, back and forth, back and forth.

Mommy, does Daddy know Baby Jesus or Big Jesus?

He knows them both.

Mommy, I don’t know Big Jesus yet because I am just a little boy.  Big Jesus is too big to live in my heart.

Okay honey.  Someday.

Back and forth, back and forth, back and forth.

How is your tummy feeling now?

It’s okay now. He stopped kicking my tummy.  I just said, “Baby Jesus please stop kicking inside my heart.”  And he heard me and stopped.

That’s good honey.

Time to rest now, close your eyes.  We’ll play when you wake up.

Yippee.  I love to play!

I know you do.

Back and forth, back and forth, back and forth.

Rest now and wake up ready to play, wonder and wonder some more.
